May 2009 - Abbotsford Community Foundation is the most trusted centre for giving in Canada's most giving city.
Recently, the Executive and Board of Directors at Abbotsford Community Foundation have been involved in discussions and meetings to learn more about the urgent need for housing solutions in our city. As we reach our 30th year, the Board of Directors has identified the important need for sustainable funding as the solution for the many charities in our city that serve people affected by multiple housing needs.
Abbotsford Community Foundation is responding to this challenge by establishing a Housing Endowment Fund to support housing solutions in Abbotsford. An endowment fund will give our city the chance to build a lasting capital fund that will continue to support charities and projects that play a role in our community on an annual basis. An endowment fund gives the community capacity to provide ongoing financial resources into the future.
Abbotsford Community Foundation seeks support from municipal organizations, business and individual donors, to grow and build a sustainable housing fund for multiple housing needs.
Abbotsford Community Foundation will bring together those who are working towards housing solutions and those who are in a position to fund them. By working together, this community is capable of accumulating a large resource. We intend to build a $10 million endowment over the next 3 years.
