Awards Program

The Abbotsford Community Foundation's Awards Fund Exceeds $2.2 million, making our fund among the largest of its kind in Canada.

The mission of the Abbotsford Community Foundation's Awards Committee is to increase access to post-secondary education by soliciting, holding, administering, and investing gifts, bequests, and designated funds in order to award scholarships and bursaries to students graduating from participating public and private secondary schools in the City of Abbotsford.

The Awards Committee was established in 1990 with an initial donation from School District #34. Donations are pooled and invested and the investment income is distributed as scholarships and bursaries to eligible students. Flow-through funds are an annual commitment with the full amount being awarded each year.

Donations to the Abbotsford Community Foundation may be made in the form of cash, pledges over a number of years, stocks, bonds, property, bequests, life insurance, memorial gifts, the transfer of an existing trust fund, or the establishment of an endowment fund for awarding scholarships and bursaries.

Donors to the Abbotsford Foundation's Awards Program include individuals, service clubs, organizations, and local businesses. Each has the option of recommending recipients, or allowing the Foundation's selection committee to choose. The Abbotsford Community Foundation's Awards Program is highly regarded in our community.
